North, South, and East are NOT impacted. And, travelers from the West have scenic detour options that actually are quite beautiful and full of fall color, and can add as little as 30-50 minutes to the drive.

26 is
one the nation’s only interstate scenic byways and has observations points,
overlooks and views of the highest peaks in the east. Adds 50 minutes to travel
time.
· The good news for travelers and leaf
peepers is that people CAN travel to Asheville and WNC mountains during this
eventful time, as we reach peak fall color and move toward a festive holiday

Just a few miles north of Asheville in the historic Reems Creek Valley - about 15 minutes from downtown Asheville - reserve a room at the Historic Brigman House B&B of BreakAway Inn , reserve the charming self-catering BreakAway cabin, reserve all of the Brigman House, or all of the Brigman House and Cabin for many group size options.
The Brigman House operates as a Bed and Breakfast on shorter notice when available. Otherwise it may be reserved in its entirety as a 5 bedroom 4.5 Bath Vacation Rental . Right next door and "across the creek" the BreakAway Cabin may be reserved with all of the Brigman if your group needs more space, or separately as a wonderful "self-catering" cabin - new in 2004. The Brigman House itself is on the National Historic Register. Totally renovated in 2004, this Griffin Award Winning Home barely escaped the bull-dozer, and is now virtually a brand new home, yet with all the charm & enchantment of another era.
