Sunset Vista is also wonderful for smaller groups with 3BR 2BA and room for 2 to 8 guests. Other amenities include Wi-Fi, washer/dryer, charcoal grill, and seating on the spacious back deck with fantastic views, and just 3 miles to downtown Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Sunset Vista is next door to Asheville Mountain Vista if you have a larger group and need to expand.

Summer is just around the corner! Spring came quickly this season with our unseasonably mild winter. Plenty of rain and sunny, warm days, brought our early mountain spring flowers in and out quickly. At Oakland Cottage Bed and Breakfast, beautiful roses and peonies are in bursting in bloom. Geraniums now brighten our front porch at Oakland. Tomato plants are getting bigger by the day with the spring rains and warm sunshine. Robins are in abundance hopping around the yard gathering worms; chick-adees and wrens are busy nesting in the birdhouses and bushes. The dogwood trees, azaleas and tulip blooms have come and gone. Trees now lush with late spring growth surround the park-like yard, telling us that summer is certainly near. Spring and summer are wonderful times to visit Asheville, NC, Vacation In Asheville and the Mountains of Western North Carolina.

Festival of Flowers continues at The Biltmore Estate through mid-May. Purchase your discounted tickets directly from us and have them waiting for you upon your arrival, allowing you to bypass the ticket lines at the Biltmore Welcome Center. Tickets are $55 and each and are good for two consecutive days of entry; guests have access to a self guided tour inside of the Biltmore Estate, all of the 8,000 acres of grounds, including trails around the Bass Pond and Lagoon, Antler Hill Farm, barn, village, and winery (with free wine tasting). Weekends offer many special events, demonstrations and music at Antler Hill Village. The Flowers in and around the estate are stunning - a site not to be missed this spring.

Most of the Blue Ridge Parkway is now open. A drive along the parkway will offer you stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western NC, and it is easily accessible from Asheville. The Parkway Headquarters and the Folk Art Center are great places to stop along the Parkway, not to mention wonderful hikes to vistas and waterfalls. The North Carolina Arboretum may be accessed from the Blue Ridge Parkway at MPM 395 and will be a wonderful place from which to take in the mountains.

The Orange Peel, Civic Center, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and Diana Wortham Theater and many other local venues have wonderful ongoing arts and entertainment to explore and of course, fantastic dining never ends in Asheville! Tail gate markets are in full swing now, offering local foods, honey, jams and other area items and novelties.
