What a mellow winter we have had so far.

And winter is a great time to visit Asheville, NC and Vacation In Asheville.  Rates are reduced, crowds are down, views are expansive, hikes are crisp & cold and with amazing long range clarity of the Western NC Mountains.

Take advantage of reduced rates and crowds at The Biltmore Estate from January 2 through March 31.  Purchase your tickets directly from us and have them waiting for you upon your arrival.  Choose one of our Winter Biltmore Packages, or add discounted tickets to your reservation for ease and convenience.  Daytime Tickets purchased through us are $39 each adult ticket and good for two consecutive days of entry; youth and children 16 years old and younger are FREE with a ticketed adult.  Additionally from January 2 through March 31, Complimentary Audio Guides are included with your daytime ticket (regularly $10 each audio guide);  tickets are good for two consecutive days of entry and guests have access to a self guided (audio) tour inside of the Biltmore Estate, all of the grounds and trails around the Bass Pond, Lagoon and beyond, Antler Hill Farm, Village, and Winery (with free wine tasting).  Perhaps you will have the added treat of seeing the Biltmore Estate in the snow!  Views from and around the Biltmore Estate are unsurpassed in winter months, so be sure and plan in some out of doors time at the Estate as well.

While much of the Blue Ridge Parkway is closed, the 20 mile "commuter section" that winds through Asheville, NC -  from the NC Arboretum (MPM 393) on the south end (which is always a treat to visit and open in Winter - $8 parking charge at the Arboretum) to Bull Gap at Ox Creek Road (MPM 373.8) on the North End - generally stays open with gates closed at either end.  The White Dot Trail meanders alongside this section of the Parkway and with leaves off the trees, the views open up on much of this section and the pull-outs have beautiful and mostly westerly views.  The Folk Art Center, open from 9 - 5 in winter is at MPM 382 and always a treat to visit and free to enter (restrooms available, check their schedule).  At Bull Gap, take scenic Ox Creek Road a beautiful and winding 4 miles (down) to Reems Creek Road for a visit to Vance Birth Place a charming historic state park with "living" museum (no charge).  Many outdoor enthusiasts, inlcuding hikers, cyclists, walkers and joggers (and sometimes cross country skiiers), enjoy parking at Bull Gap where the gate is up, taking advantage of enjoying the Parkway with no motor vehicles - a real treat in winter and quite the contrast to busy summer months.

The Orange Peel, Civic Center, Thomas Wolfe Auditorium and Diana Wortham Theater and many other local venues have wonderful ongoing arts and entertainment to explore and of course, fantastic dining never ends in Asheville!  Stay with us this winter!
